Sensory Handwriting Camp - Summer 2018
Are your child’s letters unrecognizable or hard to read?
Does your child avoid fine motor activities such as drawing or coloring?
Do you have concerns about your child’s pencil grasp?
Does your child get tired easily when writing?
Get ready for school!
Camp Handwriting Instruction Will Include:
- Five 2 hour classes that are interactive and fun, with a different sensory-motor theme each day:
- Monday: Body Awareness and Coordinating the Two Body Sides
- Tuesday: Proprioception, Motor Planning, Alertness
- Wednesday: Tactile and Kinesthetic Feedback
- Thursday: Memory and Visual-Spatial Skills
- Friday: Vestibular and Ocular Feedback
- Small group instruction, 5-6 students per class
- All practice sheets and materials provided for printing, cursive, or kindergarten readiness
- Helps to improve handwriting speed, legibility and develop handwriting skills
- Allows children to experiment with ways to compensate for handwriting difficulties
- Increases understanding of why the student is struggling with handwriting
- Classes are led by a licensed and certified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapist Assistant
- Based on the Getting It Write program by LouAnn Audette and Anne Karson and
Handwriting Without Tears curriculum by Jan Z. Olesen.
